Julia's Fall Wishlist!

I love summer. I really do. Not having the stress of school and getting to go on vacations and hang out with your friends any day of the week is pretty fabulous. But if I'm being honest, my favorite season is fall. The weather is absolutely perfect. There are football games, the NHL season starts, and it's apple picking season! (Not to mention my birthday is in t minus 18 days and I'm TOO EXCITED!!!) Here's my wishlist for this season!

I'm absolutely obsessed with Southern Marsh T-shirts. They are so cute and look super comfortable. The Bimini Green color is simply gorgeous!

Who doesn't love Lululemon? Leggings, whether or not you agree that they're pants, are the most comfortable piece of clothing a girl can find. While they are fairly expensive, they are very well made and super soft!

I love love love the Ralph Lauren cable knit sweaters but I can't find a white one like this anywhere! The struggle is real…

Is this dress not gorgeous? I'm not sure if I could pull off this color combo but I think its perf!

This jacket is absolutely perfect for fall and cold football games.

Riding boots are life. Literally that's all I wear in the fall/winter…. Sorry not sorry.

If these aren't the cutest boots ever…. I'm obsessed. I got the orange Hunter Boots last winter and I love them, but I would kill for these.

Obviously you can't wear boots without really cute boot socks.. Duh.

I'm obsessed with monograms. Obsessed. You can never have too many monogram necklaces.

More monograms! This bag is perfect for sleepovers and weekend trips.

Absolutely in love with this. Ordered this in navy as an early birthday present and it's adorable.

Also part of my birthday present, I love this duvet color. Because it's navy, it matches almost everything
and brings the room together.

So what about y'all? What are you guys looking at for this fall?

October 1st

Just a friendly reminder that the NHL season STARTS OCTOBER 1ST!!!!!!! Obviously I'm beyond excited. The Chicago Blackhawks are coming off of a huge Stanley Cup win, and my boys the Philadelphia Flyers have (hopefully) gotten themselves together somewhat this offseason. The Blackhawks play the Capitals October 1st, and the Flyers play Toronto October 2nd.
YAY HOCKEY!!!
Which team are you guys most excited to watch this season?

Back To School

So while going back to school is pretty gross, picking out cute school supplies is fun. Here are some essentials that I picked up for back to school.
(This is Juliaaaa just so ya know)

Lilly Pulitzer Agendas are the absolute best. We've used the Lilly planners freshman and sophomore year and they've helped a ton with organizing our lives. Not only are they super cute, but they have your year, month, and week laid out perfectly so it's simple to lay out your social life as well as schoolwork. My planner is the Large Agenda in the print "True Navy Tusk in the Sun". Yay for elephants! ðŸ’—

I've had a Macbook Pro for a few years now, but I've never found a case that I absolutely loved. I'm super excited about this one because it's adorable and (hopefully) will protect my laptop when I take it to super fun (sarcasm ladies) AP Latin study sessions at Barnes and Noble. This is the Vera Bradley Laptop Sleeve (for 15" laptops) in the print "Summer Cottage".

Binder covers!!! Cute binder covers honestly make class a whole lot more bearable. These are super easy to make, and there are tons of tutorials on Youtube. Most of the prints I used are Lilly Pulitzer, but you can use any picture or print you want.

It's Britney Betch

Miss Britney Spears has definitely had her ups and downs. But the queen of pop is still the epitome of fabulous (in our opinion at least). This is Julia, and Britney is my homegirl. (We were both born in Mississippi how cool is that???!!!???) But in all seriousness you can apply Britney's music to all parts of your life! If you're stuck in some sticky situations, here's some advice via the queen.

Breakups

Breakups suck. Whether you're the dumper or the dumped (that's a word right?) the whole situation just really…. well, sucks. This is probably the most basic situation where girls jam their headphones in to make themselves feel better. Instead of going only to Taylor Swift (who is actually perf for breakups but a girls gotta have some variety), mix some of these songs in your "Getting Over _____" playlist. You're welcome. http://i.imgur.com/hW65m.gif

1. Stronger - This is definitely a fav. If your ex was a total jerk and you're glad to be rid of him, this is a fab song to sing in the shower.

2. Everytime - This song is great to listen to if you want to feel really sad. It's basically about missing someone… So on second thought maybe this is a terrible breakup song.

3. Shattered Glass - The classic "you cheated on me and I'm fabulous so you're going to miss me" song.

New Love

Awww warm fuzzies. There's this guy. He's super hot and you really like him, but you're not together. Yet. Here are some possible anthems.

1. Drop Dead (Beautiful) - My personal favorite.

2. Radar - Do ya know you're on my radar?

3. Break The Ice - :)

It's Complicated

Facebook is right when they say that "it's complicated" is a valid relationship status (only in real life though don't make it your fb status because that reeks of desperation).

1. Sometimes - This guy is totally precious, but you're not quite sure if you're ready. You just want to take it slooowwww.

2. Toxic - You're totally into him, but you know he's not right for you.

3. …Baby One More Time - Does he love me? Does he love me not? (BTW fav Britney song ever)

It's Love

So this is sort of basic but if you're looking for a song that "epitomizes" your relationship here are a few options.

1. (You Drive Me) Crazy - But in a good way...

2. Thinkin' About You - This may or may not be pathetic but hey! You're in love!

3. I'm A Slave 4 U - This also may not be the healthiest song ever, but if the shoe fits, wear it!

Girl Power

If this is just an "I hate men" kind of day (and girl we all have those), Brit has got you covered.

1. Womanizer - I know exactly who you are

2. Oops!… I Did It Again - Sorry I'm so fabulous :)

I'm a Bad Ass

Similar to Girl Power, these songs make you feel like a serious BA.

1. Circus -  There's only two types of people in the world!

2. Me Against the Music - You get in the zone girlfriend

3. Piece of Me - No but seriously you don't want a piece of me.

Yayyy for Britney! What are you all time favorites of hers?

Summer Reading

So it's August 10th, and school is right around the corner (*sobs*). So for 99% of us high school students who haven't already done our summer work, its probably time to start thinking about it. Summer work absolutely sucks. It's our school's attempt to suck at least some of the fun out of our summer (at least in our opinion). Groan. Enough about that, this is what we're reading instead.

The Selection

If someone mixed The Hunger Games and The Bachelor and put it in the oven, this is what they would get. 35 girls all vying for the same guy equals for an interesting book.

Bewitching

Anyone remember Beastly? Written by the same author, Bewitching is a retelling of Cinderella.

City of Lost Souls

This book is number 5 in the Mortal Instruments series. The movie version of the first book in the series, City of Bones, comes out August 21st and we're super excited because these books are dark and beautiful and we can't wait to see it on the big screen.

The Code

So I know what you're thinking. Hockey? Really? But I swear hockey, especially NHL hockey, is super fun and interesting to watch once you get into it. In the words of Ross Bernstein, "Once it [hockey] gets in your blood, it stays there for a very long time" (The Code). The Code is about the role of an enforcer in the game of hockey, and it sheds a whole new light on the game. This is the book that I (Julia) read at the beach... Cool girl problems.

Lauren Conrad Beauty

Okay so who doesn't want to look like Lauren Conrad? She's fabulous!

What about you guys? What are y'all reading instead of your required summer work?

Bad Girls

So this is Amber and I'm going to start off with the complete truth: I don't know how to be bad. I honestly don't think I could be a bad girl even if I tried, like I can't not finish my homework because I'll feel bad the whole night. Pathetic, I know. It's not like I just haven't had the "opportunity" to be bad because I have, it's just not in me. As another example of how not bad I am, I recently went to a teen night at a club at the beach...terrible idea I know...and I was really surprised at all of the girls who just didn't seem to care and seemed to enjoy the fact that boys were putting dollar bills in their shorts/extremely short skirts (that actually happened). I've been told and see a lot now that in our culture girls like Julia and I are not very common, girls who just love to hang out, go bowling, and eat (a lot). So I'd like to applaud all the girls out there who are bad at being bad. It's a good weakness to have.

*Live fast die young glitter girls do it well*

The Glitter Girls: Part 2

I'm Julia. I'm the second half of the Glitter Gang and I'm about to start my junior year of high school. I love everything southern, classy, and preppy. I breathe to play soccer. My iPhone has the most random music collection you'll ever find, from Disney Princess to Selena Gomez to John Mayer to Eminem, and you can usually find me singing at the top of my lungs. I have an unhealthy obsession with everything hockey, especially the Philadelphia Flyers and the Chicago Blackhawks. I essentially live in frockets and norts. Also I really, really love tigers.

(Thats me just by the way)

Best Chick Flicks of All Time

So I think a lot of us Glitter Girls would agree that the best kind of movie is a chick flick. While they can be cheesy at times, the mixture of comedy, romance, and just all around girliness makes for a pretty quality movie. Here are the Glitter Gang's Top 15.

#15 Aquamarine
Basically we're also mermaids. So a movie about a fellow mermaid finding love is right up our alley. Or should I say dock... No? Bad joke? K.

#14 Letters to Juliet
This movie is just adorable. Sophie's (Amanda Seyfried) quest to help the elderly Claire find her long lost Romeo is absolutely precious, and it doesn't hurt that Claire's grandson is a major hottie.

#13 Step Up
First off lets just take a minute to appreciate how gorgeous Channing Tatum. The music and dancing in this movie is surprisingly good, and the chemistry between the two leads is undeniable (they're now married with a baby, but you probably knew that).

#12 Legally Blonde
Legally Blonde is the ultimate girl power movie. Elle doesn't let the haters stop her from doing her thang. She proves to everyone at Harvard Law that she's way more than a pretty face.

#11 Titanic
Sobs. This movie is beautiful, just like Leonardo DiCaprio. The forbidden love between Rose and Jack grows strong over a short period of time, until tragedy strikes.

#10 How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
Talk about quality movies. This "battle of the sexes" rom com is seriously hilarious, and (surprise) has a happy ending.

#9 The Proposal
This movie gives hope to heartless bitches everywhere. We can find love too!

#8 Pride and Prejudice
If you haven't seen some version of P&P, you seriously need to reevaluate your life.

#7 Clueless
Tacky clothes? As if!! Clueless is a classic. If you're a teenage girl and you haven't seen it, do yourself a favor and watch it asap.

#6 Another Cinderella Story
I (Julia) absolutely love this movie. Selena Gomez is my girl and her and Drew Seeley absolutely tear up the dance floor in this 90211 version of Cinderella.

#5 High School Musical
We may or may not know every word to every song in this movie, as well as most of the script.

#4 She's the Man
Do you like...... cheese? Even though Amanda Bynes has completely gone off the deep end, her performance in this "Twelfth Night" modernization is pretty fab. For us Glitter Girls, this movie is a throwback to freshman year where we watched this quality movie in Latin class (this actually happened).

#3 Red Riding Hood
The storyline of this Red Riding Hood retelling sucks you in, and keeps you on your toes. It's the perfect dark romance.

#2 Pitch Perfect
Aca-scuse me? Best movie of 2012, no doubt. Not only is Pitch Perfect absolutely hilarious, but the acapella is spot on.

Let's see if you can guess #1. One of my favorite quotes ever is from this movie.

"I'm sorry that people are so jealous of me... but I can't help it that I'm so popular."

And #1 is......

MEAN GIRLS!!!
I mean what other movie would be number one? Mean Girls is the ultimate chick flick, and likely the most quoted movie of all time. Beware the plastics.

Glitter Girls Part 1

Known to many as that girl who loves volleyball, build a bear, and all things glitter- I'm Amber. I'm about to be a junior in high school (which is crazy I still use coloring books occasionally). I love being one half of the Glitter Gang and i figured my life is full of so many awkward and memorable moments I have to share them with everyone! A good example of my day to day life would be when I accidentally turned around and totally sneezed ALL over an extremely cute and (then) disgusted boy. Although I was born in New York City and moved around several other times, Virginia holds even more experiences for me in the future and I'm excited to share them with anyone who is willing to listen. At the moment my little brother just walked into my room in his superman pajamas and apparently "I reaalllyy need to see something, like seriously" so I seriously have to go. But don't worry, I'm sure I'll be back with more embarrassing moments. (Oh thats me by the way)

Welcome to the Glitter Gang

So we know what you're thinking. If the chevron and Lilly Pulitzer didn't clue you in, no, we're not an actual gang. We're just two girls who really, really love glitter. Welcome to our journey to fabulousness.
