Summer Reading

So it's August 10th, and school is right around the corner (*sobs*). So for 99% of us high school students who haven't already done our summer work, its probably time to start thinking about it. Summer work absolutely sucks. It's our school's attempt to suck at least some of the fun out of our summer (at least in our opinion). Groan. Enough about that, this is what we're reading instead.

The Selection

If someone mixed The Hunger Games and The Bachelor and put it in the oven, this is what they would get. 35 girls all vying for the same guy equals for an interesting book.

Bewitching

Anyone remember Beastly? Written by the same author, Bewitching is a retelling of Cinderella.

City of Lost Souls

This book is number 5 in the Mortal Instruments series. The movie version of the first book in the series, City of Bones, comes out August 21st and we're super excited because these books are dark and beautiful and we can't wait to see it on the big screen.

The Code

So I know what you're thinking. Hockey? Really? But I swear hockey, especially NHL hockey, is super fun and interesting to watch once you get into it. In the words of Ross Bernstein, "Once it [hockey] gets in your blood, it stays there for a very long time" (The Code). The Code is about the role of an enforcer in the game of hockey, and it sheds a whole new light on the game. This is the book that I (Julia) read at the beach... Cool girl problems.

Lauren Conrad Beauty

Okay so who doesn't want to look like Lauren Conrad? She's fabulous!

What about you guys? What are y'all reading instead of your required summer work?
